Osaka, the third-largest city in Japan, is distinguished by its love of fine cuisine and exciting entertainment. The 16th-century commercial city developed into an industrial powerhouse in the 20th century and is currently evolving into a forward-thinking center for the modern arts. Numerous art galleries and futuristic buildings have been springing up, most notably the iconic Umeda Sky Building, which has two towers connected by a sky bridge.
Some of Japan’s most fascinating cultural attractions may be found in Osaka, including the National Bunraku Theatre, which presents amazing traditional puppet performances. The city is conveniently navigable and is roughly divided into two centers, north and south. The main business district of Kita (north) Osaka is reachable from Osaka and Umeda stations.

One of the best castles still standing in Japan today is Osaka Castle, which has been damaged and rebuilt numerous times over its history like many other ancient Japanese castles and temples. Despite being established in 1583, Osaka Castle was reconstructed in 1931. Its top floor provides beautiful city views.
Visitors to the castle grounds come from near and far every spring to take in the lovely cherry blossoms and the vibrantly colored foliage in the autumn. A sizable collection of 10,000 historical artifacts, including swords, armor, portraits, lacquerware, multicolored woodblock prints, and folding screens, is housed in the castle’s museum, which is inside the main structure.
The same business that operates Osaka Aquarium Kaiyuka also operates this enormous Ferris wheel, which is situated close by in Tempozan Harbour Village. It is 112.5 meters high and does a full turn in about 15 minutes. There are 60 cabins total, each with space for 8 people and wheelchair accessibility.
The Tempozan Ferris Wheel is a great way to enjoy panoramic views of Osaka Bay and its surroundings, including the Rokko Mountains to the north, the Ikoma Mountains to the east, the Akashi Strait Pearl Bridge to the west, and the Kansai International Airport to the south. Around 30,000 animals representing 620 species are on display at Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. The enormous whale shark, a symbol of Kaiyukan and the largest known fish species, may be seen in one of the biggest aquariums in the world, along with many other unusual marine animals. It has a 12-meter maximum height.
The Galaxy of Jellyfish is a fascinating world filled with tanks of thousands of translucent jellyfish. See ringed seals, rockhopper penguins, and honeycomb stingrays at the interactive exhibits area. Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, which faces Osaka Port, is about 5 minutes’ walk from Osakako Station on the Osaka Metro Chuo Line.
On the island of Nakanoshima, which is situated between the Djima and the Tosabori rivers, about 10 minutes west of Higobashi Station in the heart of Osaka, is the subterranean National Museum of Art, Osaka.
One of the most significant of the many shrines in Japan dedicated to Tenjin, the Shinto god of learning, who has been linked to the Heian Period scholar Sugawara Michizane, is Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, which was established in the tenth century. Osaka Tenmangu Shrine’s current main hall (honden) and main gate date from 1845, despite the fact that the shrine has had numerous fire-related losses during its history.
